Whim!
January - June 2023
Project Type Mobile App, iOS
Team Done in partnership with Amanda Tejeda
The hypothetical lovechild of a planner application and the visual needs of individuals with ADHD.
initial problem discovery
Adapting to change is difficult.
Between psychological obstacles, variable conditions, and ever changing goals, nothing really prepares us for life’s complexities.
problem validation
But it’s about how we sit and adapt with the uncertainty that makes our journeys worthwhile, and the first step in doing so is through — planning.
who does this affect? college students. people with adhd. business professionals. mental health. we all need to plan, whether if we think we need it or not.
Research — in a nutshell.
hypothesis
if we inclusively design a planner application for the individuals where planning is the most difficult (individuals with ADHD), then it will naturally make the process easier for all users who want to use planner applications like these.
the big problem statement
how do we make current planner applications more inclusive and accessible?
problem/opportunity spaces (what should we focus on?)
planners aren’t customizable to fit a user’s needs — and everyone has different needs.
reminders on reminders on reminders.
planners are ugly! planning apps don’t keep their users engaged.

The Solution
insert prototype nicely and the process of wireframes and design, maybe the color palette as well.
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Figma Familiarization
This project allowed me to familiarize myself with Figma and play around with the way I wanted different features to look.
Things I Learned
Don’t add noise.
We don’t need to invent an entirely new tool, but simply reinvent the path for users to interact with these tools to make it more accessible and equitable for anyone who so chooses to use my answers to the problem.
Researching
Sometimes the easiest place to start researching is right where you are, surrounded by your innermost circles and people who you know will fill out your surveys.
If I had more time, I would…
-
Develop and create a team to make this application come to life.
-
Measure my impact with user testing and feedback forms. It would be cool to be able to pitch this idea to industry professionals and stakeholders to gain feedback.
-
Do more research around the psychology of media tools in the workplace, and how that affects planning.
